Neurocritical care is the intensive care provided to patients with severe neurological and neurosurgical conditions. A neurocritical intensive care unit, also known as a neuro ICU, provides the technology and specialized care needed to maximize recovery.
The UF Health Neuromedicine Hospital boasts a 27-bed neuro ICU. It is collaboratively managed by neurologists, anesthesiologists and neurosurgeons. They work together to provide patients with the highest quality of care available. Providing this level of care requires a multidisciplinary team. This team includes specialized advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, dieticians, technicians and therapists. They work together to establish individual and patient-family centered care plans.
