Publix continues 26-year tradition of supporting children’s hospitals with coupon campaign

From Saturday through July 1, Publix Super Markets are inviting customers to “Put Your Money Where the Miracles Are” by donating to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. In exchange for a $1, $3 or $5 donation, Publix customers will receive a set of coupons with savings of up to $20 on popular brands. These coupons have great savings to help celebrate Father’s Day or the Fourth of July. Funds raised from the coupon campaign will help provide lifesaving care for local kids.

This campaign marks the 26th anniversary of Publix supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 1992, Publix has raised more than $39 million for the charity. Funds raised during the three-week campaign will help support pediatric research programs and services such as Child Life and Arts in Medicine, and also will fund lifesaving medical equipment at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. In 2016, Publix Super Markets raised over $780,000 for the hospital. “Each year, funds raised by Publix help to further advancements in research, invest in lifesaving medical equipment and provide a wide range of services to those in need of specialized treatment while in our care at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. There’s no doubt that none of this would be possible without the generous support of Publix and their customers,” said Scott Rivkees, M.D., a professor and chairman of the UF department of pediatrics. “We’re incredibly grateful for 26 years of generous support from Publix,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Over the last several decades, we’ve seen advances in children’s health care that can be attributed in part to community contributions like those from Publix and its customers. For example, research shows nine out of 10 kids born with congenital heart defects now survive into adulthood and childhood cancer death rates continue to decline. We congratulate Publix on the positive impact it has had in the neighborhoods it has served over the past 26 years and look forward to the medical advances to come.”

Those who participate in the register campaign will receive coupons from the following vendors: Kellogg’s; Mars (Mars Petcare, Mars Chocolate and Wrigley); Johnson & Johnson; Coca-Cola and Dasani; Georgia Pacific (Angel Soft Bath Tissue and Sparkle Paper Towels); Oil-Dri (Cat’s Pride) Pepsi Pure Leaf Tea and Frito Lay.

More than 1,100 Publix stores in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee are participating in the fundraiser benefiting 24 member hospitals.
