About me

Dr. Larry Cook is a 1979 graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Dr. Cook has been in a general restorative dental practice since 1980 in, Marianna, Florida. He received his undergraduate education at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Cook was able to attend ORU by receiving a baseball scholarship and playing for the Titans for four years. His undergraduate degree was in Business Administration. He worked on his MBA in International Marketing at Youngstown State University prior to leaving the business world and entering dental education. He began dental school at the University of Florida College in 1976 and graduated with the Class of 1980.

Dr. Cook is the Past President of the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration, the University of Florida College of Dentistry Alumni Association and serves as Advisor to the Executive Council for the Florida Academy of Dental Practice Administration. He has been a teaching assistant at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Higher Dental Education, Key Biscayne, Florida.

For many years Dr. Cook has served the Florida Section of the American College of Dentists as the Ethics Chair for the Section. He has directed ethical dilemma workshops, ethics essay forums, ethics discussion forums and providing ethics and professionalism lectures for the students at the dental schools and residents at the AEGD residencies in Florida. The last ten years his teaching in ethics has expanded to include lectures and workshops at national dental meetings involving his peers in the profession. Dr. Cook completed his Master’s Degree in Healthcare Ethics from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 2011.

In the summer of 2013 Dr. Cook began teaching clinical dentistry on a part time basis at the University of Florida College of Dentistry. Within just a few months Dr. Cook knew that teaching would become his third career. In February 2014 his dental practice of 34 years was fully transitioned to his former associate. Dr. Cook currently teaches fulltime in the Restorative Dental Sciences Department, functions as a TEAM Leader in the clinics at UFCD as well as the Ethics and Professionalism curriculum at UFCD.
