About me
Dr. Gautam S Kalyatanda is an Associate Professor of Medicine within the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine. He provides care to patients with infectious diseases, non-tuberculous mycobacteria and with tropical diseases.
He received his medical degree from the University of Mysore, India and completed his internal medicine residency at St Vincent’s Hospital, Worcester, Massachusetts. He completed his fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Florida, after which he completed a year of post-doctoral training at the University of Florida in global health and tuberculosis. Dr. Kalyatanda runs a clinic focused on tropical medicine and treating patients infected with non-tuberculous mycobacteria.
Dr. Kalyatanda is committed to medical education. He is the division education director and the associate program director of the infectious disease fellowship. He also serves as a collaborative learning group leader for medical students at UF. He has been awarded the department of medicine Excellence in Teaching Award for 2018 and 2019. He was awarded the International Educator of the Year Award for 2020 by UF College of Medicine.
He is involved in global health activities and is interested in social media as an educational tool. Dr. Kalyatanda has also been an advisor to international committees on anti-microbial resistance. His other interests include Post TB disease and long COVID
